News – World War Z drops price in Epic Games Store

While it’s been known for a while that Saber Interactive will be distributing their upcoming zombie shooter World War Z via the Epic Games Store rather than Steam, this has recently translated to a price drop for potential players. While we’re still over a month away from its April 16th release, Saber CEO Matthew Karch has continued his defence of the Epic Games Store by directly linking a five dollar price-drop to the lower cut taken by Epic (12%) compared to Steam (30%) for distributing their game.

Karch has previously defended his decision to give PC-exclusivity to Epic in an article at gamesindustry.biz, citing increased visibility in their store as the primary reason. He argues that Epic have brought non-casual games to casual gamers in a revolutionary way. Whether or not this expanded casual audience will generate sufficient revenue to mitigate the loss of gamers in Steam remains to be seen…
